Ricky Darnell McDowell was an original Electric Boogaloo and one of the first members invited by Sam but the story goes that  he was dancing during the same time or before Sam with William Green Jr but didn't have a label to their moves the just danced but people watching them gave names to the moves such as Poppin and tickin.

 Origin story traces popping back to Fresno’s Tulare housing project where William Green Jr., aka Tick’n Will and Ricky Darnell McDowell developed foundational popping moves like the “old man,” the “twist-o flex” and the “neck-o flex” over the course of numerous  dance sessions held in their respective apartments.
